Zakat and Zakat-ul-Fitr are used with the same pretext. Zakat is given to individuals who do not participate in general projects but has to be directed towards individuals in one of the above mentioned categories in the holy Quran.

When a donation is marked “Zakat”, DM-Aid distributes the amount according to the guidelines mentioned in the holy Quran. DM-Aid distributes Zakat, Zakat-ul-Fitr and Sadaqat between poor and needy, also to orphans.

Many chose to pay their Zakat and Sadaqat during the Ramadan. If one wishes that the means should be received by the poor before the end of the Ramadan then it advised to send the money well beforehand.
