Microfinancing
mikrofinansiering.jpg
Projects financed by DM-Aid have as an objective to help a family in the most basic sense as well as assisting whole village-societies.

Amongst our important projects are the microfinance-projects that have the objective of developing and supporting small farmers, craftsman and businesses in order for the families to be able to support themselves as well as their children.

Microfinancing
Small is good. Microfinancing is a development of the Micro-Loan idea which was invented by Muhammad Yunus from Bangladesh in 1976. It has since shown to be a very effective way of helping the poor. With DM-Aid’s microfinancing, the aid does not have to be repaid and the aid is never given as cash but rather as a natural resource (e.g. goats, chickens, corn, machines, etc.)

Goats
Donate two goats or lambs to a family. The children will receive nutritious milk and within two years the heard could very possibly have grown to 8-10 goats. Goats are easy to take care of, not fragile and can eat varied food. Goats can be taken care of by both adults and children. Often, children find them a good playmate.

Agriculture
Donate planting seeds to a family. Many places in the world the farmers can not afford to buy the better crop-seeds. With 50 kg of crop seeds in the form of corn, a family can produce enough crops to make a living from agriculture. The family will use some of its harvest themselves, sell one amount and keep some seeds for the next sowing. The family can also buy seeds for fruit crops or for planting vegetables. In some areas it is possible to harvest 2-3 times due to the favorable climate. We try to support the traditional crops for the area in question.

Chickens
Donate chicken-feed and 50 chickens to a family. Chickens are easily sold on the local market. Additionally they produce eggs as well the possibility of using their excrement for the use as fertilizer. In just 6-8 weeks a new batch of chickens are ready and if the family proves to be industrious then it can quickly become a good business.

Sowing machine
Donate a sowing machine to a single mother. Many women are sole providers to several children. This aid is especially designed for these mothers. A sowing machine can give the family the possibility to survive in a society with harsh conditions and without social security. With a sowing machine a mother can take care of her work as well as provide for her children from the comfort of her home.

It is hard to set a precise price on a microfinance project since the price of goats, chickens and seeds can vary much depending on the country in question.
However, in most countries a project can be set up by the amount of DKR1000 (€130).
